Nothing says summer like this
strawberry lemonade! A simple classic.
Hi, I’m Amy Traverso, Lifestyle Editor at Yankee Magazine. Welcome to The Yankee Kitchen. Today I’m making a great summer drink, and it’s just a simple strawberry lemonade. We add a little bit of fizzy water in there to make it sparkle, and it’s a really nice thing to serve at a party.
So in this cup I have about a cup of sliced strawberries. Very simple. Put those in a blender. Now you just want to process these a little to break them down. So I’m going to do I think on low speed. Now I’ll bring it up to medium. Okay. So now I’ve got a strawberry puree. It does not have to be perfect.
I’ve got about a cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. It has to be freshly squeezed. If it comes in a plastic bottle and it’s shelf stable, don’t buy it.
So I’m just going to mix this up. Stir it to melt the sugar a little bit, and then I’m just going to pour that in with the strawberries and mix it up a little bit more. Okay. Put the lid on and go.
Okay. Now I’ve got a pretty concentrated juice here, and it’s very sweet. So what I’m going to do is add some sparkling water to this, about a cup and a quarter to a cup and a half. I’m just going to eyeball it because we don’t have to be exact. This is just lemonade after all.
And there, that’s pretty much it. I’m not going to turn on the blender because that would be messy, but I am going to pour it into my serving glasses. Jelly jars or Ball jars are a nice way to serve this. You can garnish it with a little strawberry slice, some lemon, and if you want to make it an alcoholic drink, you can add some vodka. There’s a quick delicious summer drink.
