6 cups sliced apples
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cornflakes, crumbled
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
grated peel of the orange
Arrange the apples in a buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons sugar and pour half of the orange juice over them. Work the 1/3 cup butter and 1/3 cup brown sugar together until creamy. Add the cornflakes, flour, spice and orange rind. Mix well and spread over the apples. Pour on the remaining orange juice and dot with butter. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for about 45 minutes. Serve warm with cream or hard sauce.
