This came to me as a joke in a sports bar , but it is a good lunch or an afternoon snack .
This goes well with grilled cheese sandwiches .
The joke is meant for all the unlucky hunters .
3.5 quarts of water
2 green peppers diced
1 4.5 ounce jar of mushrooms
1 medium onion, diced
6 stalks of celery, chopped
4 carrots, chopped
2 ears of corn, kernels removed
1 packet of Italian Salad Dressing Mix
3 teaspoons of soup base
In a non stick skillet or a large stock pot sprayed with Pam or any cooking spray add all your vegies and slowly warm and slightly brown.
Sprinkle in the salad dressing mix .This will take about 5 to 10 minutes.
For all us cheaters out there , 2 bags of mixed frozen vegetables works very well. You will still need the jar of mushrooms.
Please be sure your pot can hold about 1 gallon or more of fluid .
Now slowly add the water.
Next add the soup base . Beef base is great, but vegetable soup base is also good.
Slowly bring to a low boil and then simmer. Cover the pot and gently stir as needed for 30 minutes.
Place in mugs or bowls or when serving for a group setting , place in a crockpot or chaffing dish .
Enjoy this when your are watching your favorite football team playing .
Make this up ahead and freeze this and can you take it to the tailgate party .
