As I write this, a snowstorm has enveloped Yankee’s Dublin, New Hampshire, offices, while a deep freeze that began the week before (or the decade before, seems like) is poised to continue with a spate of the year’s coldest temperatures so far. Yep, winter has set in—and it doesn’t feel as though it’s ever going to let go.

It might seem a funny time, therefore, to bring up summer. (You might remember it: sun, warmth, T-shirts. Sound familiar?) But long before the calendar flips to June, New England’s premier resorts and hotels are fully booked for the season—places like Winvian Farm in Connecticut, Ogunquit’s Beachmere Inn, and Newport’s Cliffside Inn. These places evoke the region and the season, and if you should ever find yourself staying at one of them, it’s bound to be one of the highlights of your year.
