The Vida Cantina building still bears traces of the Friendly’s restaurant that once inhabited it. This variation on the Fribble, Friendly’s signature milkshake, often appears on the summer dessert menu. Its unique texture comes from making a simple homemade frozen milk base, then blending that with fresh berries.

4 cups whole milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups wild blueberries, fresh or frozen
Pinch salt (optional)
Whisk milk, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until sugar dissolves. Pour into an ice cream maker and chill according to package instructions until frozen. Pour the frozen ice milk into a blender with the blueberries and pulse until combined.
